Global Environment Facility - provides grant and concessional funds to countries for projects and programmes targeting global environmental issues: climate change, biological diversity, international waters, and ozone layer depletion. Responsibility for GEF implementation is shared among the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), and the World Bank. Countries are eligible for GEF funding if they are United Nations Member States and are eligible to borrow from the World Bank or receive technical assistance from UNDP.
